Blood Donation + Angels & Demons

So, ytd i accompanied Dear to HSA at Outram to do a blood donation at around 11+am. It was my first ever blood donation, haha, and i wanted to support him in his plama donation too :) So i went down, even though i was trepid about the whole thing. The thing that i hate most in my whole life is INJECTIONS. The last one i took was like in Primary 6? I cried. Alright. So i went down, and the problem is no one there can pronounce my name properly! WTF. In the end, they called my chinese name. Anw, it was quite scary. Cos they pricked my hand with the tool, and then the blood just came out of my fourth finger. I got pricked another 2 more times on the arm for the blood donation. The freaking needle was so big, and the second time they injected my arm, it was a little painful. Anw, dear wasnt with me during the blood donation cos he donated plasma instead. So he was in another room, and i finished early. So i went down to meet hwee hsia first cos he would take a long time to finish. She bought the tixs for Angels & Demons and we went to cine Chicago Steakhouse for lunchie :) Some pictures:

There, we waited for Dear to come and join us, and then we just went in for our movie. It was a super long movie. But i felt that the movie was kinda disappointing, esp since the book was written so detailedly by Dan Brown. Oh wells, and they changed some of the story in the movie, which i didnt like. HAHA. Ok, i really must emphasize some of the changes with the movie that the book didnt have.

1) Vittoria Vetra was an Italian Scientist at CERN. In the movie, she was Israeli.

2) The antimatter was created by ONLY Vittoria Vetra and her father, Leonardo Vetra, and so, only both of them knew about the project. In the end, Leonardo got murdered for the password that held the key to the antimatter. In the movie, a whole research team created the antimatter AND VV's partner was murdered for the antimatter; no mention of her father or anything.

3) Robert Langdon was summoned by the Director of CERN to go to Rome to solve the kidnap of the cardinals and the Illuminati symbol which was branded on Leonardo Vetra. In the movie, no branding of the CERN's scientist (aka VV's partner), only the kidnap of the cardinals. And RL was summoned by one of Rome's papal (correct?)

4) VV looked like a bimbo and a second fiddle to RL, but in the book, she was described as a brilliant scientist.

5) I REALLY THINK THIS IS THE WORST OF ALL: The Hassasain in the movie was Middle Eastern (Arabic), but in the movie, he was a Caucasian looking guy( nerdy with glasses, like WTF, he doesnt have a killer look). Anw, the scene where RL and VV found the Hassasain at the Church of Illumination was the most anti-climactic one. The killer had a gun and could have just shot RL and VV right there and then, but he only appeared pointing the gun at them and said, " Throw away your cellphone into the fire (to VV, cos she knew that the final victim was the Carmerlengo and she wanted to call him to warn him), and if you are wise enough you would not follow me and if you keep pursuing me, i will have to kill u" (or sth along that line). Then, he just ran away leaving RL and VV looking in shock. Wah lao, its like a killer kills, and he just went off without having a fight. Its not logical at all! RAHH.

6) All 4 cardinals were killed in the book, but in the movie, only 3 died and the last one survived during the branding of the Water symbol. I think this was quite good cos the killing of the cardinals were really quite sad and shocking, esp when the first cardinal was buried in earth and rats were eating his body. That was quite grotesque. And the 3rd cardinal who was burned to death up at the altar. At the last one, the cardinal was barely saved, who eventually became the Pope. In the book, Cardinal Mortati ( the Great Elector) and the Carmerlengo was elected as Pope.

7) In the last part where the Carmerlengo confessed to one of the Swiss Guards about his treachery to the Pope and the hiring of the Hassasain to the antimatter, it was the Director of CERN which was killed in the book, when he realised that the Carmerlengo was the killer.

8) In the book, when the Carmerlengo took the antimatter with him up to the helicopter, RL also followed suit. It was supposed to be a suicide mission where the Carmerlengo embarked on a suicide mission with the antimatter, but in the movie, the Carmerlengo took a parachute to save his life. HAHA

9) Lastly, in the book, the Carmerlengo burned himself in public at St Peters Sq with the crowd and disappeared in flames. But in the movie, he died cowardly by burning himself with only the Swiss guards looking in horror.

This is a super long post, but the bottom line is, the book is much better than the movie. HH and Dear seem to enjoy it though :)
